Celibacy, Sexuality, and the Crisis in the Priesthood.
A conversation with Fr. Tony Flannery
Tony Flannery is a Catholic priest, writer, and founding member of the Association of Catholic Priests. He is the author of several books and numerous articles in publications both religious and secular.
In 2012 Tony Flannery was disciplined by the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) for views he expressed on Catholic teachings. He was suspended from ministry and instructed by his religious authorities to remain silent. Early in 2013, however, he decided to ignore that stricture and go public. Since then he has been active in the reform movement around the world.
In this talk, Fr. Flannery speaks frankly to one of the most critical issues facing the Catholic Church today: the crisis of vocations, the question of compulsory celibacy, and the loneliness and desolation of many aging Irish priests.
