I am well aware that I have been neglecting this blog now for some time. The reason for that was that I was busily working away on my book. Just a few days ago all ten chapters went off to the editor, for her to check over them. I have been working on this book, on and off, for a few years, so it was a nice feeling to press the ‘send’ button, and hear the swish as they all went off. The publication is scheduled for October, all going well. I still have to finish work on my introduction, but that is fairly easy, and I am waiting to receive a foreword from the person who has agreed to do it for me. That should come in a little while.
The name of the book: Twenty one years ago I published a book called From the Inside; it was the biggest seller of all my books, and spent a good few weeks in the best sellers list. It had a sub-title A Priests View of the Catholic Church. Since my circumstances have changed a fair bit since that time, I am calling this book From the Outside, with a sub-title Rethinking Church Doctrine.
So that has engaged me a fair bit during the lockdown.
The other thing that has been going on in my life is that a group of lay people have taken up my case. They are now joined by the ACP, and both groups together are in dialogue with the Redemptorists to see if there is anything that can be done to lift the sanctions on me, or at least to initiate a proper procedure in dealing with my case. I very much appreciate what they are doing, and the care they are showing me. But, to be honest, I am not holding my breath for a successful outcome.
Along with that, I have got great value out of the beautiful Spring weather with which we have been blessed.
